Cuero, TX (January 25, 2023) – A truck accident reported on Saturday morning in Cuero claimed the life of a 38-year-old woman from Victoria, Texas. The Texas Department of Public Safety was called to the site of a crash on US Highway 183.
According to DPS, at around 6:35 a.m., 38-year-old Laura Yvette Rivera was driving north on US Highway 183 in a 2019 Kia Sorento.
For reasons unknown, a southbound 2022 Kenworth semi-truck, which was towing a trailer, veered into her lane and crashed into her SUV head-on.
The impact of the crash caused the Kia to overturn and come to rest on its roof, positioned on an embankment just off the roadway.
Rivera was fatally hurt in the crash. She was declared dead at the scene at approximately 7:10 a.m.
The truck driver, 43-year-old Reinald Duntae Cobb, Sr., was uninjured.
DPS is currently investigating the crash.
