Pedestrian Killed in Car Wreck

The Daily Tribune Online reports that a 55 year-old woman was killed in a wreck involving a vehicle.

The female pedestrian was hit by a Dodge Magnum. According to the report, the woman was crossing a highway near Spicewood, Texas when she was killed.
It's an unfortunate reality, but pedestrians are frequently killed by drivers. Sometimes the incident is due to driver negligence, and sometimes auto-pedestrian accidents are caused by negligence on behalf of the pedestrian.

If you’re not sure how long it takes a car to get to the crosswalk, take the time to watch traffic for a moment so that you can time it. It’s the same concept as waiting for a car to go by before you make a left turn across a street to see how fast the traffic is moving and how much time you need to turn.
Be particularly careful at night. If you’re wearing dark clothing, remember that it may be hard for drivers to see you until they’re right on top of you. If you’re not sure you can make it across a street, wait until you have a break in traffic or (preferably) find a safer point to cross.
