A Houston woman suffering from drop foot and leg nerve pain are has filed a Texas medical malpractice lawsuit against a doctor and hospital that she believes botched her recent left hip replacement surgery.
According to Clear Lake news sources, Xhevaire Biraci of Houston filed a TX med mal lawsuit on August 14 against her physician, Dr. Michael Monmouth, and the medical center where the surgery took place, Christus St. John Hospital. The report filed at a Harris County courthouse states that Biraci’s left hip replacement surgery resulted in lasting sciatic nerve pain in her leg and a drop foot. She is seeking compensation for medical costs, damages, and court costs.
Drop foot, also known as foot drop, is a medical condition that results in a person’s inability to move their ankles or toes upward due to nerve damage, spinal damage, or muscle damage. The condition causes the sufferer to either drag their damaged foot or to stoop forward while walking.
Sciatic nerve pain, or sciatica, occurs when damage takes place along the sciatic nerve, the largest nerve in the body, which runs from the spine to the legs.
