A new traffic accident study has shed light on fatal car accidents, teen drivers, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
- Female teen drivers are now significantly more likely to be involved in a fatal DUI accident, closing the gender gap that existed just ten years ago – in 1997, male teen drivers were twice as likely to be involved in fatal drunk driving accidents.
- Teen drivers with any amount of alcohol in their systems were more than three times as likely to be involved in a fatal crash than sober teen drivers.
- Teens with a blood alcohol of 0.02 or above were four times more likely to be involved in single-vehicle accidents.
- Sober male teen drivers are twice as likely to be killed in a car accident than they were just ten years ago. Researchers believe that mobile devices and distracted driving may be to blame.
