An enormous natural gas explosion in Johnson County left one Texas worker dead and several other with burn injuries. In the wake of the massive explosion and fire, state investigators and the company who caused the on-the-job accident are trying to figure out who is to blame for the worker death.
According to Dallas News, the natural gas explosion took place on Monday afternoon, when C&H Power Line was drilling holes for poles as part of their project of building an overhead transmission power line for Brazos Electric. The construction crew hit a high-pressure natural gas line underground, which led to the huge explosion. One man’s body was found 200 yards from the explosion, although Johnson County authorities have not released his identity. Four other workers were transferred to local hospitals with burn injuries, while at least eight other people in the area also needed medical treatment. The explosion could be seen from the outskirts of Fort Worth, Texas, and was heard and felt by thousands of people in the area.
The Texas Railroad Commission and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will be investigating the fatal Texas worker accident. Right now, many are wondering whether or not the power line company obtained the required clearances needed before drilling holes deep into the ground. C&H Power Line, however, is arguing that they have yet to prove that their workers even caused the explosion.
