Concrete Pumping Truck Accident Kills Two Lewisville Workers

A park-and-ride railway station off of the Hebron Parkway in Lewisville was the scene of a fatal Texas construction accident on Thursday, June 24.
The train station was under construction when a concrete pumping truck collapsed, killing two workers. Two other workers suffered injuries in the Lewisville on-the-job accident. The Texas work accident occurred just after five in the morning, as the boom from the pumping truck fell directly on the two men.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) investigated the site of the construction accident on Thursday and turned the site back over to contractor Lemco Construction without commenting on their findings. The contractor was hired by Denton County Transportation Authority and the equipment was owned by Central Concrete Pumping. The workers were employed by Reliable Concrete. The concrete pumping truck involved in the accident will be disassembled and examined by Denton County as they investigate the case.
The two men killed in the Denton County construction accident were 34-year-old Gerardo Horta of Dallas and 41-year-old Rafael Ruiz-Garcia of Denton. Two other men suffered leg injuries in the heavy equipment collapse and were treated at local hospitals.
"DCTA's thoughts and prayers are with the families of the workers killed and injured in today's incident," said Jim Cline, president of the Denton County Transportation Authority.
Construction on the commuter rail and bus station, which is located in Lakeside Circle near Interstate 35, will be halted for at least a few days.
