If you’re going out to eat, you want to make sure that the restaurant you’re eating at takes time to make sure that their floors are safe. Obviously, when you’re going out for a good meal, the floors aren’t usually the first things on your mind. There are cases, however, were somebody is seriously injured because a restaurant owner did not take care of their floors as they should have. Salad bars, buffets and any other area where people fill up their own plates present a common hazard. Many of the people who visit these areas don’t pay much attention to what’s falling off their plates and, in some cases, these areas may present very serious trip hazards. Watch out for areas of the floor that appear wet and make sure to pay attention to what people in front of you are doing. If somebody drops something, point it out before somebody else ends up falling on it hurting and themselves.

Bars

If you’re at a restaurant that has a bar area, make sure to keep an extra sharp eye out for spill drinks. Particularly if the floor is a hard surface, spilled drink or two can present a very serious hazard to people. Because the lighting conditions and bars tend to be low to begin with, this hazard is sometimes very hard to spot.

Doorways

At any restaurant door, a certain percentage of people will take the time to wipe off their feet before entering and a certain percentage will not. That later percentage of people has a habit of tracking in water, mud and other substances that may make a floor dangerously slick. Be wary around the doorways to any restaurant.
